San Diego Blogger Meetup

You ever go to a place and you have no idea what it is? Yesterday I attended a San Diego blogger meetup in Del Mar.  I had previously thought that Del Mar was only the name of a fair where people in White Lion t-shirts, without teeth, fry food that was never meant to be fried.  Now I find out it may be a city, or a municipality, or a kingdom.  So on Thursday I drive to this “Del Mar” for the San Diego Blogger meetup hosted at Sammy’s Pizza. I know tech/digital meetups, and they only go one of two ways – either the people are surprisingly warm and friendly or you are exclusively dealing with Milton from Office Space. Fortunately, this one was the former. The people were friendly and what I like about the Blogger Meetup is that, like the Bonnie Rait song, everyone had something to talk about.  I gave some advice to a dating coach, talked Trader Joes Tiki Masala with a Indian Food reviewer, and watched a gentleman walk directly into a door.

 Food:

I didn’t try the food because I was trying to maintain my paleo ways (although I did have to pretend that our paleo ancestors drank beer). I would have tried it on a cheat day though because I am always interesting in trying new pizza.Currently, my favorite place is Luigi’s. Bronx is a close second. The food at Sammy’s looked really good, and everyone I talked to enjoyed it. Especially the mini hamburgers.

Drinks:

The Blogtini’s were refreshing and I do really like that Bare mixers. I think as a man busting out a blogtini would not go over well at the game, but if someone bought me one I wouldn’t complain.

People:

Awesome. I was so happy that the people at the event were friendly and open. It can be tough to find the perfect balance between too cool for school Zack Morris and so nerdy Screech. However, this crowd was the perfect mix.

Overall it was well worth my time, and I will be attending the next one for sure.

Thank you very much. We didn’t meet, but in the future I will bring my Pizza Team up there.
